UniCredit, an Italian financial group, anticipates Slovenia's economy to grow by 1.9% in 2024, following an estimated 1.3% expansion in 2023.
The growth is expected to be driven by a recovery in private consumption, a substantial increase in government consumption, and inventory build-up.
In 2022, Slovenia experienced a real economic growth of 2.5%. UniCredit's forecast indicates that economic growth in Slovenia is expected to reach 2.3% in 2025, propelled by increased consumption, rising investment, and a slightly positive contribution from net exports. The financial group expects disinflation to persist in 2024, slowing to 3.4% by the end of the year and further decreasing to 2.5% by the end of 2025. The fiscal deficit is predicted to remain above 3% of GDP in 2024 before narrowing to 2% of GDP in 2025. UniCredit estimates Slovenia's funding needs to be 5.3 billion euros in 2024, with repayments covered mostly through bond issuance and, in part, with fiscal reserves.
