The FDI Slovenia Awards 2023 celebrated outstanding foreign investors, recognizing Carthago, Boxline UCL, Elan, and SPAR Slovenia.
Carthago, a German-owned caravan manufacturer, received the award in the large companies category for its sustainable and innovative contributions. Boxline UCL, a global shipping company, excelled in the small and medium-sized enterprises category with remarkable growth and performance. Elan, a Begunje-based sporting goods manufacturer, secured the green, creative, and smart company award for its commitment to environmental responsibility and continuous improvement. SPAR Slovenija, a retail giant, was acknowledged for its significant impact on the Slovenian economy.
Foreign direct investment in Slovenia increased by 8% to EUR 20.2 billion in the past year, marking the sixth consecutive annual rise. Austria, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Croatia, and Germany were the leading investors. The awards ceremony emphasized the importance of forging strong, long-term partnerships beyond merely attracting foreign investors.
While Slovenia remains attractive for investments, Minister of the Economy, Tourism, and Sport Matjaž Han acknowledged the need for further improvements in the business environment.
